Fans of Bang & Olufsen technology are happy with a headphones called B&O Beoplay H9. It’s very difficult to find flaws, although they have some disadvantages. But, B&O Beoplay H9 headphones are still outstanding and will remain so for a long time.
B&O Beoplay H9
B&O Beoplay H9 over-ear headphones come with the Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) option.
The headphones have the capability of wireless Bluetooth connectivity to give you total freedom of movement. Beoplay H9 uses the touchpad on the right hand side. Aluminium and leather are used in making, so these headphones are an extraordinary fashion detail.
The headset features a battery that allows up to 14 hours of work, far less than H7 with 20 hours of work. There are two types of connection; wirelessly with Bluetooth 4.2 and wired via standard 3.5-mm connector. The charging of a built-in battery lasts for about 3 hours, and autonomy improves when saving mode is on.
Beoplay application allows users to monitor the current battery status, change sound settings, and download software upgrades.
For maximum comfort on your ears, cushions are filled with a memory pen. B&O Beoplay H9 headset is available at a price of $499 on Amazon and the Bang & Olufsen online store.
B&O has already a hybrid H8 headphones with various tricky functions.
B&O Beoplay H9 is very interesting over-ear closed type headset. The designer of the headset is Jacob Wagner and he made several Bang & Olufsen devices (H3 headphones, H6 (wired, classic), Beolab 19 subwoofer, Beoplay A6 wireless speaker).
These headphones resemble at H6 model but ergonomics is changed for the better. We must to mention a wonderful materials used. The basis is of aluminium, the material is rough, with an interesting texture. There are no strange sounds, noises, squeaks. Everything is done qualitatively as it should be. Big letters, R and L are on the inside of the ear cups to avoid confusion.
A battery section is on the left-hand side. It resembles on those used in old push-button phones.
A micro-USB, charging connector and 3.5 mm audio jack are on the right-hand side. These headphones are a hybrid, since they work on both, Bluetooth and cable. You can also activate the noise cancellation system with a cable connection. This is convenient in many situations. When you connect a micro-USB cable for charging, you can continue to listen to music. It’s nice that someone took care of such seemingly insignificant detail. But if you have a long flight, it’s possible to connect the headphones to an external battery and listen to music, while replenishing the battery.
The model comes in two colors, black and beige (on the official site called Agrilla Gray). This light version seems much more interesting.
On the upper part of the headband is sewn a thick piece of leather. The ear cushions made of soft leather with a different texture. They look great and comfortable to wear around your neck.
Noise cancelling system
B&O Beoplay H9 headphones use a conventional type of noise cancelling system. When there is a strong noise nearby, it instantly softens, but does not vanish. When you try to listen to music in the subway, of course, the noise of the arriving train is completely drowned out by B&O Beoplay H9. In addition to the active noise cancelling system, well-made ear cups, do a good job in eliminating of noise in a passive mode. Also, working in a cafe or in another public place with B&O Beoplay H9 is a pleasure. When you must face one-on-one with documents, nothing will distract you.
Time of work are these:
14 hours on Bluetooth and ANC.
16 hours on Bluetooth, no noise reduction system.
21 hours on a cable with the noise cancellation system.
Charging time is 2.5 hours.
You can listen to music when charging. Here you can find fault because some big headphones work longer. But B&O BEOPLAY H9 has a possibility of charging without disconnecting replaceable battery. This is big plus for B&O Beoplay H9. In real life, you can count on the claimed performance, but you must have an external battery to prolong their usage. By the way, a very big plus is the possibility of noise cancelling system with cable connection. After all, you can use the multimedia system in the airplane by connecting the headphones with a cable and turning on the ANC.
If you listen to music via Bluetooth, you’ll notice that the Bluetooth 4.2 profile supports aptX and AAC codecs. The latter is more important for pairing with the iPhone.
Be sure to install the Beoplay app and try to adjust the equalizer. It instantly affects the sound, and you can achieve very interesting results.
With most of the tracks from iTunes, headphones show neutral results, which are that everything is so flat, boring, without too much emotions. So, when you listen the soundtrack from T2 Trainspotting you’ll yawn from boredom. The headphones are quite universal and suitable for any music.
In general, the sound of B&O BEOPLAY H9 is good. As for the quality of voice transmission – everything is fine. In a quiet place it’s quite possible to talk without removing the headphones. The external noise may interfere your call and it is better to take off your B&O Beoplay H9 and use a smartphone.
Despite the high price, they worth it. To buy or not? Definitely buy! These headphones perfectly fit to every head, with great sound, protect from ambient noise and please the owner every day. We especially recommend B&O Beoplay H9 for those who travel a lot, work hard on a laptop in different places and want to concentrate. These headphones are great tool that helps to receive only positive vibrations.
